Drop Shadow

Drop Shadow is an effect where an image is repeated behind itself to create the illusion that the image is floating over its background. A cast shadow is similar to a drop shadow but has the added dimension of perspective. A dark overlay that covers a section of text or a graphic that makes the object appear three-dimensional.

A graphics effect that makes elements look more three-dimensional and "pop out" of the picture. Using an image editor, a duplicate of the text is made, changed to black or gray and then passed through the filter.

In general, a drop shadow is a copy in black or gray of the object, drawn in a slightly different position.
